Search & Rescue Pinzgauer

After building and rebuilding my 2007 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited several times, to better function as a dedicated Search & Rescue vehicle, I decided it was time for something new.  So in 2015 I sold it and began to look for something that was small, lightweight, and maneuverable, but had more capacity.  It seemed like a tall order.  However the Pinzgauer fits the bill perfectly.  I'll use this site to document my build and share what I learn as I transform it into the ultimate PNW Search & Rescue vehicle.

While the SARPINZ will actually get used on missions, it also plays a key secondary role.  Eye candy! I also wanted a vehicle that would attract people to it.  Once I had their attention I could take the opportunity to remind them about the key principles of back country safety, introduce them to the "10 Essentials," and inform them that King County Search & Rescue is 100% volunteer and completely non-profit.  All money raised goes directly into life-saving equipment and first aid, we have no paid staff.  All volunteers buy and use their own gear, including SARPINZ.  Thankfully I have a supportive wife who believes in what we do.

Enjoy the journey...
