Search And Rescue Pinzgauer

BUILT TO SERVE, THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE

Follow along as I take a 1972 Pinzgauer 710M and prep it for use in Search & Rescue (SAR) work in King County, Washington and the surrounding areas.

15 Years ago I started training for King County Search & Rescue. At that time I had a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited (4 door). While it was plenty capable off-road, I struggled to find enough room to carry the gear I needed for SAR while also providing enough room to carry team members and their gear into the field.

After 5years of struggling to make the Jeep work it became clear that I needed more space. I set out to find something that held more people and gear than the Jeep but in a smaller footprint so I could easily fit down the narrow roads and trails here in Washington State. That seemed impossible, but then I stumbled into the Pinzgauer during a late night YouTube session.. that changed everything.

Here’s the rest of the story: SARPINZ | Built to serve, that others may live

King County Search & Rescue

KCSAR is a non-profit, 100% volunteer driven organization that consists of several member units and affiliates that focus on specialized training and then come together as needed to support King County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies in the greater Seattle area of Washington State.

We average between 180 to 200 missions each year (in 2020 that was up to 227) and are comprised of many dedicated individuals who choose to volunteer their time in the service of others.
